Elkhorn Adolescent Treatment Center
A Residential Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facility
3700 Midway Drive., Baker City, Oregon 541-523-8320
Elkhorn Adolescent Treatment Center was established in 1986 to respond to the growing need for adolescent alcohol and drug treatment in the Pacific Northwest. The identified demand was great enough to warrant the construction of a new residential twenty-four bed, facility in 1998. The Center provides alcohol and drug treatment for adolescents aged 14-17 years of age. Over the past 18 years, hundreds of children from all over the Northwest with chemical dependency problems have been helped by this program, located in the rural setting of Baker City, Oregon.
The residents at Elkhorn participate in a highly structured 90 day minimum, treatment program. Gender specific treatment and accommodations are provided in separate wings for young men and women. Each youth has a primary Certified Alcohol and Drug counselor, who is supported by a team that includes medical, education, psychological and recreational specialists.
Residents participate in an individualized alcohol and drug abuse recovery treatment program based on current best practices, 12-step recovery, and enhanced with an adolescent behavior modification incentive teaching system. The behavior modification component of the program is designed to develop youth accountability, teach positive social skills, reinforce constructive behavior and interactions, and provide individual daily evaluation of progress with measurable outcome. Family counseling is strongly encouraged and has proven to be very helpful in the recovery process.
The school program is comprised of a in-house school, staffing by certified state teachers. IN the schools recently expanded computer lab, the students are proved with an individualized education, which includes a state-of-the-art PLATO software program. Youth work on credits towards a high school diploma or a GED.
Available to the residents of EATC are recreation and experiential therapy experiences provided with a ropes course, art therapy, and music therapy.
Elkhorn Adolescent Treatment Center is fully committed to providing alcohol and drug treatment of the highest quality. We believe the consistency demonstrated in our programming and by trained, deeply caring staff of experienced professionals, is the key to successful adolescent treatment.
